
The APEC Host Economy Policy Dialogue was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province on March 17, 2026. This dialogue aimed to present China's proposed energy outcomes for APEC 2026 in a comprehensive and systematic manner, and to gather comments and suggestions from all parties. The meeting served as an important supporting event ahead of the 71st APEC Energy Working Group Meeting (EWG71). Around 90 delegates from the APEC Secretariat, member economies, academic institutions, as well as relevant international organizations attended the meeting.
Focusing closely on the theme of “Forge an Innovative and Synergistic Asia-Pacific Energy Community for All,” the meeting centered on three priorities: Energy for All, AI+Energy, and Synergistic Cooperation. Discussions were conducted in the format of expert keynote speeches, panel discussions, and open discussions among economies.
During the meeting, China introduced the proposed thematic deliverables in the energy sector under 2026 APEC “China Year,” and elaborated on the concepts, background, and underlying rationale for the design of the deliverables, including energy high-quality universal service, collaborative governance for AI-energy synergy, developing new-type power systems adapted to high variable renewable energy penetration, enhancing energy synergy and practical cooperation, clean energy training institute, promoting energy security coordination.
Delegates from APEC member economies engaged in in-depth exchanges of views, actively contributed insights, and offered constructive suggestions, laying a solid foundation for the convening of the formal EWG 71 and the advancement of the proposed deliverables.
